On Sunday, November 21, 2010, the Feast of Christ the King, the seminary hosted the first annual Rector’s Dinner. This event allowed the seminary community to thank and recognize former Rectors, friends and benefactors of the seminary for their work and contributions. Nearly 70 people were in attendance including our own Bishop Blase Cupich.
Our Rector, Fr. Darrin Connall, began the evening by presiding over solemn vespers which were sung by the seminary community. A social and dinner followed. At the end of the meal the seminary schola performed several choral pieces for the guests. The evening concluded with the presentation of the Topel Award by Father Connall. This award was established to specifically recognize an individual for his or her outstanding contribution to the mission of Bishop White Seminary. This year’s recipient is BishopWilliam Skylstad.
The dinner was a great success and raised just over fifteen-thousand dollars for the Bishop White Seminary Endowment. Due to the great interest, plans are already being made for next year's dinner which will be held on the campus of Gonzaga University. This will allow for many more friends and supporters to attend.
